LTS 5 - April 2021

These are the product updates in the Long Term Support Release 5 of Tulip.

LTS 5 is available now.

Who’s Impacted

These updates will be available for accounts that have elected to upgrade every 6 months with Long Term Releases, rather than the regular biweekly release. This is more common for Tulip customers in the life sciences, aerospace, defense, and other regulated industries.

If an organization does not utilize LTS with Tulip, then these features have already been rolled out regularly over the past few months.

Notice: With LTS 5, Tulip has announced End of Life for traditional On-Premise deployments. Contact us to learn more.

What’s New

LTS 5 Streamlines Compliance

Here are some of the updates and features that LTS 5 brings to streamline audits and change management:

Improvements to Record History Widget: LTS 5 brings many improvements to the Record History Widget, enabling users to have more control over how they filter and sort through data in table records.

Table Queries and Aggregations: With Table Queries and Aggregations, users can manipulate records, and perform deeper analysis on their data. Run multiple operations on top of different columns, and define queries that can be shared across apps.

Aggregations can be created and applied across any number of queries. These features will allow you to build and display lists of data based on certain criteria in apps and pull up specific records when you need them.

New Trigger Actions:

  • Reset all app variables: Data manipulation trigger for resetting variables in apps to their defaults (this does not affect step duration data).
  • Save all apps data: Will generate a new completion in the database and clear Steps/apps duration, and forms and signatures, without clearing variables or moving to a different step.
  • Clear all record placeholders: Clears all table record placeholders, without affecting app variables.

Added an option to not save placeholders on completion.

Account setting option to log out operator when Player is closed.

LTS 5 Streamlines App Building

Here are some of the updates and features that LTS 5 brings to streamline app building:

Developer Mode: Users now have access to an in-browser testing environment for Tulip apps. Developer Mode enables users to preview and interact with apps without the Player, preventing work-in-progress apps from running in a production environment.

Tulip Vision: Vision extends Tulip’s approach to augmenting end-users with real-time feedback, accelerated workflows, and effortless data collection. Engineers can now leverage change detection and jig detection capabilities in apps via the Tulip no-code platform and create production-ready vision systems with off-the-shelf cameras. Learn more about privacy and Vision.

  • Change Detection: The Change Detector lets users define regions or interests and detect changes such as hand movements for use cases such as pick-to-light. Because change detection is measured as a movement at a distance from the surface, a depth camera (Intel RealSense) is required. image

  • Jig Detection: allows users to print and affix specialized stickers to items to detect movement such as the arrival of material. Most RGB cameras will work for jig detection. image

Machine Attributes API: The Machine Attributes API allows you to send data to a specific attribute of a Machine via a RESTful API using the /attributes/report endpoint. This enables flexible options to integrate with Tulip from Node-RED, Python, or other languages and services.

Logbook Apps & Tulip Library: Tulip regularly releases ready-built apps regularly to get you up and running quickly with the platform. These apps are built from common use cases across multiple industries. We have recently launched Logbooks apps for managing digital logbooks and GxP documentation that can be downloaded for free.

Shareable Stations: Shareable Stations make it even easier to deploy new stations to the floor. Now when you are creating a new station, you will have the option to get a shareable link and have an operator log into and set up a particular Station using a single-use link.

Increased Barcode Scanner Support: In the Player, barcode scanning is supported on the following platforms:

  • Google Chrome
  • Android
  • Zebra Android devices
  • Safari on iOS
  • Mac OS

With this update, operators can scan barcodes with external scanners connected through USB or Bluetooth, and with onboard optical cameras on the device. Barcode scanning also is supported in Developer Mode, allowing you to quickly test guided workflow apps.

Render Barcodes in Tulip: You can now generate a barcode in the app editor under the embedded menu. Once you select the barcode option, you can drag and drop to resize it, and adjust the positioning in your app. The data source for the barcode can be pulled from a Variable, Static Value, Table Record.

Added OAuth 2.0 Customization
