Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. Keep it constructive and be respectful of the topics and the people discussing them, even if you disagree.

Always be supportive and helpful to others. Speak to others the way you’d like them to speak to you. Help us keep this place as accessible and inclusive as possible.

Do These

  • Use search first. Reply to existing topics if one already exists.

  • Create a new topic if yours is unique.

  • Include a category. Your best guess is fine if you’re not sure what category to use.

  • Use the “Like” button.

  • Flag posts that violate the community guidelines.

Don’t Do These

  • Don’t cross-post the same thing in multiple topics.

  • Don’t divert a topic by changing it midstream.

  • Don’t sign your posts — every post has your profile information attached to it.

  • Don’t post “+1” or “Agreed”, use the Like button instead.

  • Don’t respond to bad behavior. Just flag it.

  • Don’t post other people’s stuff.

Remember to criticize ideas, not people. The following are not acceptable and may be deleted by admins:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation, even in an intractable disagreement, are always welcome and encouraged.

Keep it Safe and Civil

The forum is actively moderated by admins. Violation the community guidelines will result in warning(s) and/or removal of content, or removal from the forum.

  • Be civil. Don’t post anything that a reasonable person would consider offensive, abusive, or hate speech.
  • Keep it clean. Don’t post anything obscene or sexually explicit.
  • Respect each other. Don’t harass or grief anyone, impersonate people, or expose their private information.
  • Respect our forum. Don’t post spam or otherwise vandalize the forum.

Be professional, courteous, and conservative and avoid even the appearance of any of these things. If you’re unsure, ask yourself how you would feel if your post was featured on the front page of the New York Times.
