Any plans to enable driver support via the Tulip Connector host rather than only through the client side?

Currently, Tulip allows its users to use special device drivers on the client side to establish a direct connection to some connected equipment. Depending on the prevalent network setup, this may require the clients to be moved into a secure zone which puts them out of reach from certain other business applications for security reasons.

Are there any future plans to potentially also allow driver support on the Tulip Connector Host to act as a secure link between site infrastructure and the Tulip clients? (Blue dotted line)

Hi @sebme,

I’m curious to understand your specific use case for this - are there specific drivers that you would want on the Tulip Connector Host?

There aren’t any current plans for this.

Sincerely,

Jake

Hello Jake,

main motivation would be to enable client driven scale interaction without the need for both the Tulip Client device and the scale controller or connected device to be in the same network, or having to implement an additional middleware/middleman, for security purposes - as shown in the image.

Top most candidates for now would be MT-SICS protocol (standard weighting application) or Telnet, if custom logic on the scale controller is needed.

Sebastian
