App Test-Mode: Running Development Version

Hi Tulip Team and Community,

Tulip Support informed me that the following issue is not a bug but a feature, and I am hereby requesting an adjustment to the test mode for app builders:

The expectation is that every app that is started in the app builder in test mode is executed in the development version for testing reasons (because it calls “Test”).
However, if you change the station in test mode (e.g. to test station-dependent triggers), the version of the station, e.g. Most recently published version, is suddenly used.
Of course, this makes no sense in test mode, but only in the player.

Here is an example:

Starting Test Mode of an app:

Open app as station “Test Station 1” in Development Version → Correct behavior:

Then starting the app.
Changing the Station to “Station JJ IPad DMGMORI” → Version 3 started → Incorrect behavior:

And this is because in the station settings the app is added as “most recently published version”:

Its correct for the tulip-player, but incorrect for the test-mode for app-builders.
App-Builders want to develop the apps in the background and want to test their changes before publishing a new version.
So therefor you should change the behavior of the test mode to always use the development version.
Or even better, and this is my product suggestion at the end:
Make the version selectable in Test Mode through an additional dropdown.

Kind regards
Jeremy
