Add capability to reorder If Conditions inside the trigger editor

Right now, the order of conditions inside an If statement are locked in the order in which they are created. In specific scenarios, certain factors can cause the default “Error processing trigger…” error if the trigger is looking up a Table Record that hasn’t been loaded yet.

I put another condition inside this If statement, but it was below the Table Record lookup, so the error persisted. It was a bit tedious to delete and recreate the conditions in the correct order to stop this default error from occurring.

Hi @bbradshaw

I don’t get that.
Can you share a screenshot of a trigger that works and one that doesn’t? I guess that would help understanding the situation.

Maybe it is just a wording issue.

  • You can reorder triggers
  • You can reorder if/then clauses
  • You can reorder actions
  • You can’t reorder if conditions
→ but that should not make any difference, because they do not load records…

The if conditions are set to any or all and each of them has a current true or false value.
Usually this does not lead to an processing error or any order issue…

Hey Thorsten,

I am using Tulip to confirm delivery of a kanban card to a specific station. First, the operators scan the station to a variable, then they scan the kanban card. When they scan the kanban card, it will create or load a table record placeholder in a previous trigger. it will not create or load a table record placeholder when you scan the Station barcode.

Here is a trigger that works. On device scan of the Station barcode, the condition at the top will stop this trigger from firing. If the second condition is placed before the first condition, the trigger would error saying “Error processing trigger…” because the condition is looking for an ID of a record placeholder that hasn’t been loaded.

I have solved the issue! just mentioning that i have found that the exact order of conditions can affect the processing of the trigger. Hope that clears it up.

The if conditions are only checking and do not take any actions. The actions are listed under the “then” section.

Together this is the if/then clause and you actually can reorder them…

You can drag and drop on the Ifor Else If…
