Connector Host Online/Offline Status

We are using a Tulip On-Premise Connector Host (OPCH) to connect Tulip Cloud to an on-premise CIMPLICITY OPC UA server in a manufacturing environment.

We would like to monitor the online/offline status of a specific Connector Host or connector directly from within a Tulip App.

Our use case is to display the connectivity status to the operator, for example:

  • Connected – OPC UA communication is available
  • Disconnected – communication with the machine/OPC UA server is unavailable

Ideally, Tulip would provide a native connector/OPCH status value or trigger that can be used in an app to:

  • Read the current status
  • Store it in a Tulip variable
  • Display the status to the operator
  • Optionally trigger an action when the connection is lost/restored

This would be particularly valuable for industrial machine monitoring and control applications, where connectivity status is important for operators before executing machine-related actions.

Hello
We have the same need, we would like to monitor OPCH status for monitoring and alert purpose.

While waiting for the feature, we have implemented the following solution :

  • In Keepware server, setup an heartbeat: a value that ramp up from 0-10 every second
  • In Tulip platform, setup a machine on this heartbeat and running on OPCH, trigger a STOP state if no value change for 2 min.
  • In Tulip platform, an automation trigger on machine status change, if STOP, send email/alert (or any action you want).
With this, we are able to be alert if OPCH or Kepware server have any issue.
