Foreward/parse a variable to an app

Hi,
for interacting between apps i wish to foreward / parse a variable to an app (like a start parameter from the command line) to use this variable/value inside the app.
For example:
we are using a print app for test protocols by entering the test number.
To collect the data we are using a dedicated app which has the posibility to print the test data at the end by forewarding the test number to the printing app.
At the moment i don’t know how to differ if the printing app is started directly or from the test protocol app.
I think this could be an useful enhancement .
