If something is set to Mark Required, then Error Formatting dropdown has Show Error Message - how do you change the “Error Message for Validation Rule” that appears. I can’t click on the text and there doesn’t seem to be an input box anywhere?

You can’t customize the Message.
Thanks for confirming Thorsten - I thought I might be going mad! I do see that the error message Tulip generates is somewhat contextual depending how you break the validation rule (put text instead of a number etc), so all is not lost (as Robert Redford would have observed….)
