I am writing in to describe a scenario we have with the Signature Widget. If we put a very long text in the Signature Meaning of the widget, the texts will look awkward within the widget. The Signature Meaning field with long text is needed as the field text suggests.
See the attached snapshot, with a long text wrapped over the Signature Widget. From a developer perspective alone it doesn’t look like it’s a good design.
I am proposing that the widget design allows us to input texts into Signature Meaning and have this field only shown upon runtime after Sign is clicked.
We also needed to maintain a label name (short name) of the Signature Widget.
@singht22 would you be OK with us resolving this by adding an ellipsis to long signature meanings e.g. “This field means…”
The signee would be able to see the meaning fully when they sign, but would only see the truncated version with ellipsis post signing.
It’s a bit more tricky to explore the other options and we might not have an easy path there. viz @Olivier
Hey Olga!
Thanks for the proposal. How does ellipsis look like, any examples?
In my opinion, it doesn’t really matter the method you implement the enhancement within Tulip as long as the Signature Meaning properly reflected upon signing, and the long texts at the Signature widget does not clog up what’s within the widget size.
Thanks @guanteik . The ellipsis approach would truncate a very long message by “…” wherever the message is shown except in the Sign modal. e.g.:
“I’m signing this to confirm I reviewed the data and…”
We’re reviewing this with your CSM as well, and will likely reach out to set up a time to discuss this week. cc @Olivier
