Temporary User Groups

Hello, I’ll just jump into it.

My account has maxed out the user groups for our plan, so I was wondering if we could possibly make/create temporary User Groups? I understand the user groups can be expanded with plans but is a good idea. Say these groups come with limitations and are limited to the app/triggers or functions/automations they were created in and are the temporary group is disbanded/deleted after the logic is run/completed.

This would be useful in apps the need to be dynamic to make a group of new/ever changing users. I’m sure there’s a thousand different ways to get around this (like upgrading my plan :,D) but it would still be a very nice feature and very useful in specific use cases.

On another note, I would still be open to any work arounds anyone offers.!

I hear you on hitting the user group limit — that’s frustrating, especially when you need more flexibility.

First off — if you’re bumping up against the limit on your current plan, your Customer Success manager could look into possibly increasing that number for you.

On the feature request itself — the idea of temporary or dynamic user groups is interesting, but not currently on the roadmap.

To help understand the feature request, could you share a bit more about your specific use case? For example:

  • What are you using the groups for — app access, approvals, e-signatures, something else?

  • When you say “dynamic” users, is this about assigning people to groups based on a schedule, a task, or something happening in your app logic?

Re: Workarounds - depending on your use case, there may be some creative workarounds using things like Tulip Tables or custom user fields that could get you what you need without hitting that user group limit.
