What’s New in Tulip – MCP Support, AI in Automations, App Diagrams, and more

Product Updates

The team has been hard at work over the past month, introducing a number of innovative features to the platform to help speed up app building, allow Large Language Models to interact directly with the Tulip API, and unlock other exciting new use cases.

We’ve launched the Tulip Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, making it even easier to interact with your instances. With the Tulip MCP server, you can now closely integrate generative AI models with your manufacturing operations. Take advantage of Tulip’s open API actions and use natural language to ask questions about your tables, create stations and data models, analyze machines, and more. You can learn more in our blog post, or get started today using the guide on the Knowledge Base.

Building on our previously released Inspect App Logic functionality, we’ve now brought the generation of app diagrams directly into the platform. You can now create and view these app diagrams without ever having to leave your Tulip instance. This will make it much easier to understand app architecture at a glance, and we look forward to your feedback on it.

You can now augment Automations via AI intelligence using the newly released Prompt AI action. By providing Tulip AI with clear written instructions and data, you can categorize and analyze data, make decisions, and more. This opens up a lot of really interesting possibilities for Automations and I’m excited to see what you all are able to create with it!

In December, we added the ability to add descriptions to triggers, allowing app builders to document their logic and help others more quickly understand their apps. Now, Tulip AI can automatically generate these trigger descriptions to save app builders even more time!

This is just the start and there will be more to come on the Tulip AI front this summer, so stay tuned.

The Library team has also released a fresh wave of new app suites, templates, and custom widgets—including PLM-driven work instructions, the Frontline QMS app suite, and the Composable MES for Medical Devices. Check out the full release here.

Community Resources

With the wealth of new AI features, folks might find useful our recent webinar, AI for Operations: Tips for Boosting Frontline Performance. Be sure to check it out for best practices to help you get the most value out of Tulip AI.

For community members in the medical device (or other highly regulated) industry, we will also be hosting a webinar on July 9th alongside Smith+Nephew covering lessons learned along their digital transformation journey. Hope to see some of you there!
