I just put up a post for something similar as well. I think the Stations capability is a great functionality, and it would allow to minimize the use of separate tables for using apps across the business for different business units. Just need to be able to access the information from within apps for table record capture.

We can then store and retrieve the station id to identify the current station and store and retrieve various state information
