It would be really useful if triggers had an option to push device notifications. Any chance we can get this on the roadmap if it’s not already?
Hi Eric, thanks for sharing this. Can you share the use case you are thinking of here that this would help solve?
I have a client that wants to use Tulip to alert their operators to order changes through the Tulip apps they have deployed rather than email. It occurs to me that this will be ineffective if the Tulip player is minimized.
For the same client: they use rfsmart wms on honeywell mobile devices. If we had push notification capabilities we could conceivably augment the wms to alert the warehouse staff to changes in orders.
I understand that a single corner case is not justification for the development of a whole new feature, but would be surprised if other Tulip developers didn’t have/find uses for it were it available.
My hope is that since Tulip player is effectively a customized web browser (chromium?), and notifications are a standard feature of modern browsers it would be a relatively feasible to implement, if the demand were there.
You could also use it to inform about OS updates, especially if the device is a tablet only used for Tulip.
Or you could make station specific reminders with an automation to any recurring task…
Hi folks, these are great ideas and something we are considering in the medium or long term- a formal concept of a notification in Tulip that can be propagated across many channels. However, I don’t have any plans to share yet.
Eric, have you looked at our Automations feature at all? I am wondering if some of this could be solved via an automation that sends data to another system via a connector function?
Hi Kevin,
That’s exactly what we’re doing for now. What I’m asking for is the ability to send a system notification like:
Windows
Android
I don’t have an IOS device but you get the idea.
I recognize that there are other ways to create a “notification” I’m specifically asking for system push notifications as a feature that we can leverage in trigger logic.
Best,
Eric
Clear! We will add this to our internal tracking of the Notifications project.
