Following ongoing feedback from our customer community, we’re making meaningful changes to the way we schedule and communicate Tulip’s planned infrastructure maintenance. Beginning August 2026, planned downtime windows will move from monthly to quarterly, downtime windows will be shorter, and we’re introducing a formal process for emergency maintenance.

What’s changing
1. Quarterly downtime windows instead of monthly
Planned maintenance that may involve a service interruption will occur once per quarter - during the second month of each calendar quarter: February, May, August, and November. The other two months of each quarter will be reserved for Low-impact activities only (no service loss or significant performance degradation). This reduces planned downtime windows from up to 12 per year to down to 4.
2. Shorter 2-hour windows
Downtime windows are being reduced from 4 hours (10 PM – 2 AM) to 2 hours (12 AM – 2 AM), based on your environment’s hosting region.
3. Formal emergency maintenance process
In rare cases where unplanned maintenance is required outside of the quarterly window — to prevent imminent service disruption - Tulip will communicate proactively via the Tulip Status Page and/or direct outreach from your Customer Success Manager.
4. APAC/CN timezone moves to Japan Standard Time
Maintenance windows for APAC and CN environments will be based on Japan Standard Time (JST) rather than Singapore Time (SGT), aligning with our regional on-call coverage.
5. Maintenance announcements on status.tulip.co
All maintenance announcements — quarterly windows, impact assessments, and any emergency events — will be posted to status.tulip.co. We recommend subscribing to receive alerts.
When does this take effect?
The new process takes effect in August 2026, beginning with the August quarterly window. Maintenance events through July 2026 will continue under the existing monthly schedule.
What stays the same?
- The garden/weekend-of-month assignment for your environment remains unchanged.
- Advance notice of at least one month for any potentially impactful maintenance.
- Our impact categorization (High / Medium / Low) and how we communicate it.
- Scope: This process applies to production cloud environments. Trial and candidate environments continue to follow the existing monthly approach.
Frequently asked questions
Will the new schedule mean longer outages per window?
No. Each window is shorter (2 hours vs. 4 hours), and the activities scheduled into each window will be planned to fit. We’re reducing both the number of windows and total downtime.
What happens during the months that are not downtime months?
Tulip may still perform routine infrastructure maintenance — for example, component upgrades or configuration changes — but these will be limited to Low-impact activities with no customer-visible impact, and will not be announced in advance.
How do I find out which region my environment is in?
Reference the version information at the bottom left of Account Settings. (Available for customers on LTS12 or r275 and later.)
How will I know about upcoming maintenance?
At least one month before each scheduled quarterly window, Tulip will update the maintenance schedule page and post an assessment on status.tulip.co with a go/no-go decision and impact evaluation. Subscribe to status.tulip.co to get alerts.
What about emergency maintenance?
Emergency maintenance is rare and only used to prevent imminent service disruption. When it happens, you’ll be notified through status.tulip.co and/or direct CSM outreach.
