Hi Team,
We are currently utilizing dynamic PDF work instruction loading based on assembly number in our Android tablet application. However, we are encountering issues when operators scan work order numbers.
Current Behavior:
- Upon scanning a work order number, the system displays a small pop-up box indicating that the PDF is downloading.
- The download fails every time, preventing operators from accessing the necessary work instructions.
Goal:
Our primary objective is to transition entirely to digital work instructions within Tulip, eliminating the need for paper-based materials. Can you please look into this issue with tablets?
Thanks.
Hi @jay.shah,
Thank you for the input - I would need a bit more information here. Are you using the document widget for the PDF/how are you initiating the download?
I’m not familiar with all of the details of what you’re pulling/trying to create but I have a few initial ideas that I can share:
- One option if you have a set number of work instructions is to store all of the PDFs in a table for the work instructions and call it based on any prefixes/specific number.
- If you are looking to save a single page PDF based on information gathered from the process, you can either rebuild the PDF in Tulip and add variables from previous steps into it or (not recommended) take an image of the PDF and put variables over the PDF. You could then print the entire step and save it locally.
Sincerely,
Jake
HI Jake,
You understand correctly.
I’m trying option 1.
We have work instructions setup in table based on the assembly number and I’m trying to load that pdf based on assembly number on operators screen.
this mechanism is working perfectly fine when line is scanning via windows computer, but not working via Samsung android tablet.
My problem is how can I make it work with android tablet?
Hi @jay.shah,
Ah, understood. Is this issue that the PDF isn’t populating or that it only can’t be downloaded?
If possible, could you provide screenshots or access to the app so I can take a look at the trigger logic?
Thanks,
Jake
Hi Jake,
Unfortunately, The app is installed on the tablet. I can’t take a picture of the issue, but I created a test app to replicate the behavior. The app is called “PDF TEST APP” in our instance.
Please test it on an Android tablet. This works fine on a Windows computer.
If you want I’m open for a quick call.
Hi @jay.shah,
I’ll take a look in the next few days. Could we tentatively set up a 30-minute meeting for next week - what days/times work for you?
Sincerely,
Jake
HI Jake,
On Tuesday : 10/29 - anytime after 12:00 PM EST
