Change Workspaces?

In testing the Tulip player, we have a need to change to different workspaces in order to test different applications.
The Tulip player allows us to change instances just fine, but there’s no way to drill down and change to a different workspace, and I’d sure love to!

Check out my amazing mock up here:

Something like this would help us save time because it’s time consuming when I need to test different apps on a specific workspace. The Create a workspace isn’t needed, but could be nice in the future.

Thanks!

Hi @jasonh,

Thank you for the feedback. Could you provide additional detail on why you need to switch workspaces? Is this just for a specific role or is it needed by everyone on the shopfloor?

Sincerely,

Jake

Hey @jakerigos ,

This would only be for Account Owners and Administrators. It wouldn’t apply to the production floor. The use case is I’m lazy and hate having to re-configure shop floor stuff for my test machine

This is a huge issue for us as well as if you have a central team of developers across multiple sites and instances (Dev, QA, Prod-1, Prod-2, Prod-3, etc.), then multiple workspaces within those instances you are forced to clear the Player Data and reconnect everything (Instance URL, Interface, and Station) each time which is a huge pain.

I’ve also found a need for this for development but also manufacturing and quality who go between different departments (workspaces).

Hey everyone,

I think I have posted about this before. While Tulip works on this issue, I strongly recommend utilizing Chrome profiles functionality to have access to infinite players across any amount of workspaces. You can run them concurrently too if you need to test interconnected stations in one workspace.

Basically I:

  1. Create a new station and interface
  2. Copy the browser registration link
  3. Chrome Profile → Add Profile → Proceed Without Account
  4. Paste registration link
  5. Save …tulip.co/player as my homepage in that profile
  6. Can easily open and close in a new Chrome Window whenever I need

This has been an absolute life saver for me instead of constantly switching my Player between a dozen different client workspaces.

The obvious downside is that the browser player does not have access to device drivers.
