The Tulip Education team is updating our Getting Started content that lives in the Knowledge Base and University, and we want your input! We’re improving and expanding our resources to better support new app builders, focusing on both platform feature enablement and the fundamentals of using Tulip in real-world operations.
Your insights will help us create better learning experiences for new users:
- What Tulip knowledge do you wish you knew earlier when you were learning the platform?
- What tips, tricks, or best practices have made app building easier for you?
- What features of the platform felt most intuitive to learn, and what aspects could have used more explanation or examples?

Hi Sydne and TULIP Community,
Thank you for reaching out! I recently completed the Get Started course on Tulip University, and I found it to be a valuable introduction to the platform. Here are some thoughts on my experience:
What Worked Well:
- The course structure was clear and easy to follow, which made it simple to grasp the basics of Tulip.
- The interactive elements and hands-on exercises were particularly helpful in reinforcing the concepts.
- The examples provided were relevant and applicable to real-world scenarios, which helped me understand how to use Tulip effectively.
What Could Be Better:
- It would be great to have more detailed explanations especially when you reach out for TULIP support team or tutorials on some of the more advanced features, as I found myself wanting to dive deeper into certain topics.
- Including a few more case studies or examples of how different industries use Tulip could provide additional context and inspiration.
Additional Insights:
- Tulip Knowledge I Wish I Knew Earlier: Understanding the difference between test mode and the development version in the player would have been helpful earlier on. Knowing how each mode affects live data is crucial for effective app development.
- Tips and Best Practices: One tip that has made app building easier for me is to always test changes in the browser’s test mode first to avoid affecting live data. This practice has saved me from potential errors and data issues.
- Intuitive Features and Areas for Improvement: The drag-and-drop interface for building apps felt intuitive, but I could have used more examples or explanations for setting up complex triggers and logic.
- Moments of Feeling Stuck: I felt stuck when trying to integrate analytics into my app. More guidance on how to effectively use analytics and interpret data would have been beneficial.
- “Aha” Moments: Realizing the power of using variables to dynamically update app content was a game-changer for me. It opened up new possibilities for creating more interactive and responsive apps.
About Me: I work at Stanley Black & Decker as a CAD Operator/Programmer. I assisted in the first phase of development for the NCM App on the TULIP platform, leveraging my training as a TULIP application developer to improve automation and system integration. I’m familiar with various software interfaces for turret punch machines, laser cutting machines, and bending machines, including Bystronic systems, utilizing the latest industry technology. My learning process with Tulip has been exciting, and I’ve been able to apply what I’ve learned to improve our operations. I’m eager to continue developing my skills and contribute to our team’s success.
Thank you for the opportunity to provide feedback, and I’m excited to see how Tulip’s educational resources continue to evolve.
Best regards,
Jeff
