Email Distribution Groups

It would be great if Tulip added the ability to create email distribution groups vs having to add each person individually to the triggers.

Thanks for the suggestion Michael!

Just wanted to check in and see if there is any ETA on this. Thanks!

Hey Jim, we are calling this feature “User Groups” internally and would like to deliver at some point in 2021.

In the meantime, our recommended workaround is to create an email group in your company’s email provider and then create a Tulip user for that group. then, when you email that user, you will email the entire group.

Glad to hear.

This workaround is OK for fixed email groups, but we run into issues with dynamic emails (e.g., work order sent to different groups of people based on priority and/or equipment). Right now the workaround is pretty painful - either looping steps utilizing one trigger (which does hit the limit of 30 triggers easily), or copying the same trigger a bunch of times (which makes editing a pain).

Please keep me posted! Very interested in seeing this implementation.

Yep, we hear you. Also, we plan on increasing the limit from 30 trigger executions to 100 next month!

Awesome, thank you Kevin!

Hi,

Has this been implemented?

Thank you,

Levi

@Beth can you check to see if this feature has been added? We are looking for a feature that would allow a email group to be notified vs adding individual users.

Thanks!

@alec.giljohann and @Levi - will check on this and get back to you

Hi @alec.giljohann and others, this feature is still very much on our minds. We are currently planning on releasing it in 2024 and creating a concept of “User Groups” that extends across the platform. That’s why it becomes a slightly larger feature, but we want to do it right. Stay tuned.

If you are using Outlook in your company, using the Outlook connector to create connector function that sends emails to specific people could act as a “distribution group”. When your personnel changes, you will only need to change the connector function rather than changing individual applications. I hope this is helpful.
